We’re pleased to announce that Benholm Group has been accredited as a Living Wage Employer joining a network of 3500 Living Wage accredited employers in Scotland.

To attain this accreditation, companies must demonstrate that they pay all directly employed and contracted staff at least the Living Wage rate. Living Wage Scotland accreditation formally acknowledges and celebrates employers who go above and beyond the government minimum wage. We take great pride in being part of this collective effort.

What is the Real Living Wage?

The real Living Wage is an independently calculated rate based on the cost of living and is paid voluntarily by employers. The real Living Wage is different to the UK government’s National Living Wage which is not calculated according to what employees need to live on.

The rate is currently £12.00 and is calculated annually by The Resolution Foundation on an analysis of the wage that employees need to earn in order to afford the basket of goods required for a decent standard of living. This basket of goods includes housing, childcare, transport and heating costs.  This rate applies to all employees over 18, recognising that under 25s have the same living costs as everyone else.
