On 26 March, Benholm Group and Interplan Panel Systems will host a collaborative terrarium-building event for architecture and design professionals at Material Source Studio in Glasgow.
The sell-out event marks the second joint event with one of Benholm’s newly formed partners, reinforcing our commitment to inspiring creativity and sharing knowledge across the design community.
The practical session will provide hands-on experience for designers, combining creativity with learning as they build their own miniature green spaces.
Steve Byne, Managing Director, at Benholm Group believes that practical, creative events are a great way to inspire designers.
He said: “Events like terrarium building are an excellent way to get creative – who doesn’t love working with plants, meeting new people and taking part in a fun activity?”
Benholm Group recently hosted a similar planting workshop at Melonsplace Head Office, offering architects an opportunity to explore our products while relieving stress during busy project periods.
“Nature plays an increasingly important role in our lives,” Steve said. “So, balancing that connection through training, learning, or even team-building activities helps inspire those shaping the built environment to embrace biophilic design.”
Interplan Panel Systems, Scotland’s leading specialist in bespoke commercial washroom systems, also recognises the value of informal events such as this one.
Carol Hopkirk, Commercial Manager at Interplan says that creative events allow people to be themselves and make more meaningful connections.
She said: “We hope that hosting creative events like this offers a low-pressure environment for professional networking. It allows people to show up as themselves, making it easier to connect on a personal level.”
She also emphasised the practical and aesthetic benefits of plants in commercial and hospitality settings:
“Plants bring a gentle, natural and fresh look to a space, they’re widely recognised for enhancing people’s mood and wellbeing. Some species help to manage condensation by absorbing excess moisture, making them ideal for kitchens and washrooms.”
Material Source Studio offers a central hub for suppliers and designers to come together, foster creativity, collaboration and stronger industry connections.
By combining hands-on learning with networking, the terrarium workshop shows how nature and design can be used to create healthier and more engaging commercial environments.
