THE BRIEF:
Joint Design Direction is a UK-based showroom and studio, owned by two forward-thinking furniture designers and manufacturers.
Established in 2010 by two friends with a shared vision, JDD was founded on the principles of honesty, creativity, and a deeply personal approach to business.
From quirky pods and dens to banquet seating, each of JDD’s furniture is individual, made to measure and even comes with its own name. Their mission is to challenge conventional office design by creating furniture that serves a purpose to inspire and uplift.
At the heart of JDD’s philosophy is a commitment to transforming perceptions of the modern workplace. Where many see functionality alone, JDD brings warmth, personality and a sense of excitement while maintaining exceptional design standards.
The objective was to create a space that seamlessly integrates JDD’s bespoke furniture with natural elements, reinforcing their ethos of bringing warmth and creativity into the workplace. Benholm aimed to soften the showroom with biophilic design and complement their furniture collections, particularly their pods and seating solutions.
THE SOLUTION:
The Glasgow Showroom wanted natural colours, planting solutions across the showroom to add texture to the environment and enhance the furniture space.
To add life and vibrancy to key furniture and reflect the modern yet organic brand, Benholm introduced a variety of organic and artificial planting solutions.

The final space is a well-refined balance of natural textures, calming green tones, and smart design – rounded in JDD’s signature wooden and upholstered furniture.
The showroom is comprised of a palette of earthy sage, rich timber, and botanical accents which creates a now welcoming and energising environment that truly highlights JDD’s dynamic pods, modular seating and collaborative furniture pieces. It’s the perfect space for interior designers, architects and creatives to explore, connect and find inspiration or key furniture for their designs.
