PROJECTS » Commonwealth Games 2014

THE BRIEF:

Our team were proud to have been a part of this huge event, providing a range of bespoke and engaging displays to enhance the Athletes Village. The Glasgow 2014 committee tasked us with the design, creation and installation of a large number of displays throughout the village. Our timeline was just 22 days and we delivered – two days ahead of schedule!

THE SOLUTION:

We delivered a fantastic selection of bespoke barrier planters, balancing speed of delivery and quality.

  • 4 metre high Pyrus Chanticleer trees planted in bespoke containers finished in silver in line with the branding of the games.
  • Laurus Nobilis bushes were also planted in sand-filled road block cages to enhance our overall display.
  • For internal areas across the village, we utilised a wide selection of tropical plants in both large tapered containers and smaller table top bowls, helping to create a luxurious, colourful and enticing display for indoor spaces and marquees.
  • As briefed, we also delivered branded bespoke Buxus Ball topiary for each different competition venue – providing consistent displays throughout the village and event venues.

Everything from barrier planters and internal marquee planters through to statement feature trees across the village. Introducing visually enhancing installations in line with the tone of the overall event

THE RESULTS:

Huge thanks to the team at Benholm for delivering the temporary planting at the Commonwealth Games Village in Glasgow. The timescales for this project from initial enquiry to delivery were extremely challenging. The team’s professionalism, can do attitude along with ability to quickly understand the brief made the project much more manageable. They provided quality solutions within extremely tight security arrangements and were able to respond to last minute requests. Fantastic maintenance service throughout the contract. I’d highly recommend Benholm for any future planting projects.
