We believe that caring for your mental health and physical wellbeing is just as important as delivering exceptional design. And everything we do is rooted in creating unique experiences that reflect this underpinning belief by championing creativity, connection and long-term value.
This core philosophy of ours, extends beyond our products and carries into the design community that we work with every day.
For designers, architects, and creatives, the pace of work can be relentless. New projects, tight deadlines, and ever-filling diaries often leave little time to pause and reset, particularly during one of the industry’s most demanding periods.
Steve Byne, Managing Director at Benholm Group says nurturing the design community is essential.
He says, “At Benholm, we recognise the importance of creating moments that encourage reflection, balance, and renewed energy at the start of the year especially for the design community who are working tirelessly to bring new projects to life.”
This innate belief in nurturing connection and wellbeing led us to join forces with Russwood and host a dedicated Material Source Studio wellbeing event, a soothing morning focused on reflection and self-care.
Interior designers and architects are being invited to take a moment for their wellbeing through a rejuvenating yoga session with Yoga, Meditation, Healing Glasgow, delicious pastries from the Dorky French and expertly blended matchas from Pineapple Espresso. Great design starts with feeling good.
Material Source Studio offers an immersive environment for commercial designers, showcasing innovative, state-of-the-art products within its Glasgow-based showroom. The space is designed to inspire, connect, and support the design community.
Steve added: “We decided to join Material Source to connect alongside other innovators in the design industry. We believe it’s a place to build new relationships, showcase great ideas and support the next generation of designers.”
Within this unique and inspirational environment, partnering with Russwood felt like a natural fit.
Russwood, the UK’s leading supplier of high-quality timber products and fixing systems, shares this commitment to thoughtful, sustainable design. Their work helps to create future-proof environments rooted in quality and craftsmanship.
Naomi Russell, Managing Director at Russwood highlights the importance of connecting with the wider design community.
“Supporting designers encourages more considered design. It’s about sharing knowledge, experience and passion, not just selling products. We as producers and suppliers learn as much from them as they do from us. It’s about sharing knowledge, not just promoting products. We value long term relationships with our customers.”
Russwood’s values align closely with those of Benholm Group. Their presence at Material Source strengthens our shared vision of creating a space where designers can gain deeper insight into materials, processes, and the thinking behind exceptional design.
By collaborating with partners like Russwood at Material Source, we are paving the way for open dialogue, shared learning, and honest conversations about the realities of working in the design industry. These collaborations encourage mutual support and collectively raise standards across the sector.
Naomi adds: “It felt like a really natural fit for us. Material Source is all about quality and good design, which mirrors our own values. We loved the idea of being part of a space where designers can meet the maker, not just look at samples.”
The decision to host a wellness-focused event together was inspired by a shared appreciation for natural materials, biophilic design, and strong environmental values. Used in harmony, Benholm Group and Russwood products help create interior spaces that connect people with nature and positively impact wellbeing through design.
Looking ahead, Benholm Group sees this partnership as an opportunity to continue strengthening relationships within the design community by expanding collaborative events and making full use of the inspiring Material Source space.
Working with partners like Russwood enables us to further our mission: supporting wellbeing, championing great design, and fostering a more connected, supportive industry.
