A new multi-million pound community centre was built in Dundee and live plants were required to add the finishing touches to this project.
An issue was raised when we proposed large 4.0m high Ficus trees for the 1st floor area due to the weight loading restrictions. In order to solve this, the client proposed a 1meter square plinth under the planter to spread the weight the required amount.
Benholm design team were concerned about the aesthetics of this arrangement so a new bespoke planter design was created to cover the spreader base and tree planter completely, making a neat and tidy finished result meeting and exceeding the customer’s expectations.
The building has become a vibrant centre enjoyed by many of the local community and was nominated for a national planning award.
