PROJECTS » N-Able, Edinburgh

THE BRIEF:

N-Able, a software development company based in Edinburgh, operates under the umbrella of the Companies House Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.

We were approached and tasked with creating a design centred on creating a vibrant, people-first workspace and one that encourages collaboration, supports employee wellbeing, and offers flexible breakout areas for focus and informal connection.

The design scope included a thoughtful mix of materials and finishes, with warm oak tones and sleek ceramic accents adding both texture and visual interest. Staying within budget was a key priority for the client, guiding smart design choices without compromising on style or function.

To elevate the space and enhance its natural feel, live plants were carefully integrated throughout to deliver maximum visual impact while promoting a healthier, more inviting work environment.

THE SOLUTION:

In collaboration with Claremont, Benholm provided detailed advice about plant options, we shared practical suggestions for reducing costs, and we continued to keep key stakeholders up-to-date with production timelines.

PROJECT FEATURES

    • For design optimisation, we carefully selected plants which would purify the air and allow for seamless integration and maintenance
    • Floor-standing office planters and planters fitted on furniture, including bespoke shapes/sizes
    • A diverse selection of live, artificial, and preserved plants was available with a final emphasis on live plants for impact and visual appeal
    • Planters were selected in various styles and textures including stone, ceramic, black, grey, cream and oak depending on the client’s preference.
    • Pots and plants included features such as gantry tables and open-plan settings.
    • Tailored the fine details to the client’s preferences

TECHNICAL AND BESPOKE ELEMENTS

      • Integration of planters with office joinery and furniture
      • Proactive internal dimension coordination for each bespoke feature
      • Liners were offered in GRP and flexible options to suit the client cost and maintenance
      • Support and education was provided to N-Able on plant care

THE RESULTS:

The newly reimagined Edinburgh office is a living reflection of N-Able’s bold, innovative spirit. Designed in collaboration with Benholm and Claremont, the space blurs the line between form and function, merging thoughtful aesthetics with purposeful design to create an environment where people genuinely want to be.

A deep ochre couch anchors the lounge space, adding warmth and depth. Quirky yet refined planters punctuate the room, offering moments of surprise and each one was carefully curated to complement N-Able’s vibrant brand personality. It’s a space that feels alive, energising, and unmistakably modern.

At the heart of the transformation lies our fully customised live plant scheme which serves as a true centrepiece of the design. More than just decoration, the greenery serves to enhance wellbeing, improve air quality, and create a sense of calm in the bustling workplace.

Benholm’s full-service approach brought this vision to life from the ground up: designing the bespoke plant installations, integrating them into the existing furniture plan, and offering flexible options to suit both budget and maintenance requirements. While ongoing plant care is handled end-to-end, ensuring the scheme continues to thrive as the office evolves.

With Benholm’s expertise and Claremont’s bold vision, the Edinburgh office stands as a striking example of how thoughtfully curated spaces can inspire creativity, enhance wellbeing, and reflect the values of the people who work there.
